The Fairness Over Louisville event was held on July 23, 2011 by the Fairness Campaign. The location was at The Skyloft, 10th Floor of the Zirmed Towers in Downtown Louisville.  The event drew in a great crowd; including Dr. Alexandra Gerassimides (in place of her husband, Mayor Greg Fischer) and the guest of honor, was MSNBC Political Analyst Jonathan Capehart.  Mr. Capehart was introduced by Congressman John Yarmuth. Capehart was candid and welcoming; he mingled with attendees and graciously welcomed discussion and photo ops throughout the night.

Walking into the event you were greeted by friendly volunteers and they directed you to the elevators, when you reached the 10th floor they gave you a Fairness Bracelet's and led you to the event room. The Skyloft had indoor and outdoor areas. The location was great because of all of the different spots you could hang out in; whether you were inside or out. However the outside offered a breeze, a bar and city views which was a crowd favorite; majority of the guests started to migrate out there as the night ended.

The Fairness Campaign was voted the “Best Non-Profit” by LEO Weekly in 2010. Founded in 1991, this broad-based community effort is dedicated to equal rights.  Its primary goal is “comprehensive civil rights legislation prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. ”

The Fairness Campaign strives to “accomplish its goals through public education and advocacy, political activity, community building and reciprocal alliances with others in the social justice community. ” For more information please visit Fairness.org

    About Bella Portaro

Happiness Cultivator. Blogger. Writer. Social Media and PR Maven. Dreamer. Louisville Lover. Blogger at Bella of Louisville; a lifestyle blog. A lifestyle is- by definition to me - the way in which one chooses to live their life. As I’ve entered into this chapter / book of my life with a strong understanding of who I am, lifestyle has become about the art of living well. This idea goes beyond creating a beautiful home and investing in my wardrobe. Living well means being kind, being good company, contributing to your community, and becoming a person of substance and grace. If designing a life full of substance and grace isn’t aspirational, I don’t know what else is. I love writing about events and things to do in Louisville. I hope you enjoy my posts and connect with me on social media!
