If you're in town for the Derby Festival, you're probably wondering where the best places to grab lunch are. Something light, something that won't detract from the splendor of your dinner reservation. To find out about hours, location, and days open click the link in the heading of each entry. Here are seven of our favorite, essentially Louisville places to lunch:

    1. Mayan Cafe

Fresh, healthy and somehow still delicious. The tiny cafe is certainly worth a lunch date.

    2. Bluegrass Brewing Company

Lots of delicious local beer and great bison burgers.

    3. Vietnam Kitchen

Most authentic Vietnamese in town, their avocado milkshake is offbeat and delicious.

    4. Yang Kee Noodle

Forgot to buy a Derby hat? Go to Oxmoor mall and while you're there, visit this oft-overlooked gem. Affordable Asian food: we love their Firecracker Chicken.

    5. Dish on Market

A great place for a large party with lots of picky eaters. Down home country cooking without the greasy spoon.

    6. Jackknife Cafe

Located in the Butchertown Market, this soup-and-sandwich shop is adjacent to Cellar Door Chocolates, which provides a perfect excuse for dessert.

    7. Oishii Sushi

Large, Americanized sushi rolls stuffed with tons of fresh seafood. Big, colorful and splashy food.

Did we enrage you by missing your favorite place? Leave it in the comments!
