    Bit to Do

While you are sitting at home watching the Macy’s Day Parade on Thursday, a group of local high school students will be living it first-hand.

The Eastern High Marching Band has been selected to do what they do best – musically march – down the crowded New York City thoroughfare during your turkey prep time this week.

An interesting side note: Getting dozens of high school kids all the way to NYC doesn’t come cheap. The Eastern crew has had to raise $75,000 on their own to get the entire band shipped across the country for the big day.

But they will now all be able to say they’ve been in the legendary parade. Pretty cool…

Viewers of the telecast should be able to see the Eastern crew cascade across their wide screens around 11:45am Thursday.
