First WDRB and now WLKY. Disputes caused by Louisville’s cable TV operator seem to be becoming a trend. WLKY informed Insight subscribers that its contract with Insight Communications expired on June 30; however, WLKY had granted Insight an extension through today, July 9th.
Contract renewal negotiations have been taking place yet there is no definite answer. Glenn Haygood, WLKY’s general manager, has nothing else to say in addition to what has already been posted on the station’s website. Owned by Hearst Television Inc., WLKY is affiliated with CBS and is also the station that airs The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
Louisvillians were deprived of WDRB for a week; hopefully this will not be the case for WLKY. If WLKY is pulled from Insight, subscribers will still be able to view the station’s programming for free over the air, by other cable operators, and on DIRECTV and DISH Network according to WLKY.com.
