Last night my family and I had the pleasure of attending the opening performance of Disney on Ice "Worlds of Fantasy" at the KFC Yum! Center.  I will tell you now if you or your children are "Disney people" go ahead and purchase tickets.  This is enjoyable for everyone and we loved the production.

Including a 15 minute intermission, run-time for the show was about two hours.  Worlds of Fantasy begins with Mickey and Minnie Mouse taking a drive. Their car breaks down so out come Donald Duck and Goofy to help them.  Unfortunately, not even Goofy, resident mechanic can fix the car. The group ventures out to find help and end up in different worlds of fantasy.

This production includes a segment from "Cars", "The Little Mermaid" and "Tinker Bell" before intermission and closes with "Toy Story 3". The segments follow the stories we all know and love including music and props.  The Cars segment was fun as Mater drove out to help Mickey's car. Soon after Sally, Lightning McQueen and a couple of others rolled out. The cars looked much like their cartoon counterparts.

The ice skating was beautiful, graceful and included some technical moves to wow the audience. The costumes went along well with each storyline and were geared towards children and families. You will recognize the characters from the movies featured on the ice.  Scene changes were smooth and the set for each story was what one would expect. There are a few added effects here and there to include the audience like "flying" characters and bubbles falling on the audience.  Some fun music and new and old hits were included in the score.  I enjoyed the use of older hit songs for certain scenes.

Remember that you  will need to pay for parking in most areas around the Yum Center. Various snacks, souvenirs and collectibles are for sale before, during and after the show.  They accept cash or credit/debit card for purchases.

I recommend Disney on Ice "Worlds of Fantasy" for anyone, any age. I saw lots of smiling faces going into the show and on the way out. The production will hold your attention and transitions well and quickly.  Feld Entertainment has hit the mark with this one.

Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy is in Louisville from September 27 to 30 for seven performances at KFC Yum! Center. Tickets are available at the KFC Yum! Center Box Office and Ticketmaster.
