Carol Ann Anderson relied on bold paint and sumptuous fabrics to add spice to this formerly "vanilla" master suite. Cream walls, white ceilings, and neutral bedding and rugs have been replaced with a soothing yet eye-catching combination of bronze, olive, brick, celadon and black.
"Floral arrangements add a bit of different texture to the room. I used a gathering of grasses and seed pods in the brick-iron cone beside the bookshelves and orchids in the pedestal planter on the commode."
"Quilted silk from Number One Textiles was used for the bedspread. The custom bolster combines an embroidered silk with the leopard print chenille on the side chairs and is elaborately trimmed."
"The launching pad for the room was the bronze-and-green-striped silk fabric for the pinch-pleated window treatments. The stripes make the bay window area seem even larger and create a backdrop for the conversation area."
"Three elements incorporate every color in the room’s palette: the painting over the bed, needlepoint pillows in one of the seating groups and the Tabriz rug on the floor."
"The second seating group balances the bay window grouping and is more formal, with a carved mirror above a commode flanked by two side chairs."
