The owners of this 12-year-old home in Floyds Knobs were ready for a totally new look when they hired Victor Saho to redecorate their home. Taking a cue from today’s relaxed styles, he transformed the family’s favorite hangout from staid neoclassical to much more livable — but still highly sophisticated — soft contemporary.
“One of the secrets of soft contemporary is a monochromatic color scheme. My client wanted a creamy look to match the travertine floors in the adjoining salon and foyer, so I chose textured oatmeal wool carpet for the floor. The walls are painted with Benjamin Moore’s Deer Path.”

“Mirrors are an important element in soft contemporary decor. Mirroring the arch above the fireplace updated the built-in entertainment center. A spectacular mirrored chest — also from Terry G — provides storage, but functions as a piece of art.”
“A silver sculpture on the coffee table is filled with chunks of cracked glass. Centered on the console behind the sofa is a piece of handblown amber glass. Simple but towering Baker candlesticks are positioned to show off the original art hanging above the mirrored chest.”
