    Project:
    New Sunroom

A patio-home owner needed more space near her extra-large kitchen for dining and entertaining. To solve the problem, Hoskins and his client decided to create a sunroom by enclosing a screened porch.

"I extended the hardwood flooring from the adjoining hearth room and kitchen for better flow, so all three rooms have the feel of one big usable space."

"The client already owned two of the pieces in the room: the distressed game table that is being used as a coffee table and the blue hutch. Their folk-art style gives the room a homey, friendly feel."

"A Brunschwig & Fils print fabric in shades of green, blue, gold and russet was the starting point for the decor. The leaf, bird and grape motif has an outdoorsy feel without being tropical."

"We didn’t want traditional white wicker, since the room will be used year-round. For the dining table chairs, I chose dark rattan French bistro-style chairs from Palecek. The finish is a very close match to the cherry table top, which was custom-made to seat eight, and to the hardwood floor."

"The three-dimensional Italian metal candle sconces on either side of the hutch add color and interest to the brick wall. We also used companion candelabra on the table."

"Melon-shaped table lamps enhance the decor’s natural, botanical feel. I used the same style lamp in two different colors and with different shades to create interest."
