Perfectly Cast
Sherry Williams-Kosfeld, owner of the White Linen Tea Co., 1327 Bardstown Road (458-1618), sells a number of cast-iron Asian teapots, including this six-inch-tall, seven-inch-in-diameter green one for $69. It comes with a trivet and infuser for both green and black tea; choose among the store’s specialty teas, including Geisha Green and Cinnamon Plum. The price range for all of the Asian teapots is $40-$79.
Cold Storage
The Homer Laughlin China Co. makes the Disc Pitcher in its Fiesta dinnerware line, perfect for iced tea. This one, which holds 28 ounces and stands seven inches tall, costs $40 at area Macy’s stores. Color choices available are black, white, peacock (shown), cinnabar, periwinkle, cobalt, turquoise, persimmon, sunflower, plum, shamrock, tangerine, scarlet and heather.
I’m a Little Teapot
Bellarmine University’s artist-in-residence, ceramicist Fong Choo, says he’s constantly experimenting with shapes and glazes for his miniature sculptural teapots based on Chinese Yixing pottery. Five-inch-tall, four-inch-in-diameter Dolita Dolita, which sells for $388, is the result of one of those experiments. To purchase it, contact Choo at fongc@bellarmine.edu (www.fongchoo.com). Good for Your Pours
Resting on a ceramic slab, this small earth-tone teapot with handmade reed handle is 7? inches tall and four inches in diameter. Crafted by potter Laura Ross (553-8766; www.laurarossstudioclay.com), it sells for $130; her teapot price range is $90-$200. Tea With George III
Local English antiques specialists Isaacs and Isaacs, 3837 Chenoweth Square (897-2232), are offering this perfect-condition 1800-1810 Wedgwood Pearlware tea service, whose five-inch-tall, 10-inch-long teapot is accompanied by a creamer, sugar bowl, and six cups and saucers, for $2,100.
Sweetening the Pot
Welcome to the wacky world of Laura George’s teapots, which she says "possess an animated quality, which gives them a life of their own."
