    Bit to Do

This Friday, May 4th, why not cap your Oaks Day off with the Derby Eve Booty Shakin’ Boogie Time held at Butchertown’s Vernon Club? This event, presented by the Kentuckiana Blues Society, will feature a night of local and regional Blues musicians trying with all their might to keep the floor moving.

And who are these chest-beating musicians? The concert will feature sets from Little T&A, Stray Cat Band featuring the Kentucky Headhunter Greg Martin, and Lamont Gillispie & the 100 Proof Blues. They will keep the beat going, all you have to do is follow it.

I don’t know about you, but I’m picturing that scene from Dead Snake Moan. Not Christina Ricci chained to a radiator, but that one where everyone dances all smooth and sexy-like to Samuel L. Jackson’s blues band. That sounds like a great Friday night to me.

The Vernon Club is located at 1575 Story Ave, and doors will open at this Derby Eve party at 8pm with the music beginning at 9pm. Admission is $10 at the door and only $9 for Kentuckiana Blues Society members. Hope to see you sweating on the dance floor.
