The Inaugural Derby City Film Festival will open Wednesday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium, 970 South Fourth Street. 50 films from around the world were selected to be screened, of which 19 are from Louisville filmmakers, and more than 10 will be world premieres.
To mark the birthday and opening of the festival, Derby City Film Festival will host a
Guinness Book of World Records attempt for the “largest gathering of people dressed as
Abraham Lincoln.” This will take place at 6:00 p.m., prior to the showing of the documentary
film, “Being Lincoln - Men with Hats”. The second film of the evening will be the World
Premiere of Nicholas Gray’s feature film “If You Could Say it in Words”, followed by a selection of short films to close the day’s screenings.
“We are very excited about the films we selected for this year’s festival,” says organizer Ashley Rommel, “We have several world premieres, foreign films, national films, and above all, we have 19 films from right here in Louisville. It is going to be a great festival!”

Eight documentaries and 31 short films have also been selected. More information on all selected

Each filmmaker will be allowed a table in the lobby of the auditorium with which they can meet
with audience members before and after their film screening as well as signs autographs, sell
merchandise, give away promotion materials, or what ever else they choose. Please keep in mind
not all filmmakers will be able to attend the festival.
While the festival will not be juried, there will be an Awards Competition. Winners will be
determined by audience vote. Categories will include: Best Documentary, Best Short Film,
Best Feature Film and Best of Fest. Each winner will receive a statuette with their name and
film name engraved on it.
After parties will be held following the days screenings at 4th Street Live!

Admission will be free with a day or festival pass. Each evening location will offer drink specials
to festival attendees.
The Inaugural Derby City Film Festival opens October 8 and runs through October 12,
from 7 – 11 PM Wednesday thru Friday evenings, Saturday 11 a.m. - 11 PM. and Sunday 11
a.m. through 7 PM. All screenings will be held at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium. For a
