    Bit to Do

Have you ever felt like a kid in a candy store? Stop by Fuzziwig's  Candy Factory.  When I walked in, I felt like a kid again. Fuzziwig's is a fun candy experience. The store is very appealing, colorful and clean!  And, they have toys.

Fuzziwig's opened July 15, 2011 and has quickly become a bit of a hot spot. They are conveniently located in Prospect on Hwy 42. Owners Christina and Tommy Thompson have four kids and enjoy the fun environment they have created.  Although this is a franchise, the Thompson's have added some personal touches to their candy haven.

Fresh fudge, and dipped candies and fruit are made in the store.  They also offer their signature "Kentucky Crunch" which is made at the counter for guests to see. Kentucky Crunch is a gourmet Rice Krispie treat, made with JIF Peanut Butter and a few other ingredients. Christina always uses JIF and Rice Krispie brands so her product is consistent. This is a must try, rich in flavor splurge.

Dippin' Dots and new Dippin' Dots drinks are showcased at the front counter as well with several flavors to choose from.   Fuzziwig's carries a nice selection of bottled drinks, soft drinks, new and old favorites.

It's kind of hard to choose what to get with over 400 bulk candies lining the walls.  Offerings include a large variety of suckers, taffy, sweet tarts, gum, hard candy, 21 colors of M&M's, Sixlets and several individual color choices in those also.  Jelly Belly has it's own section. They have gummy candy, chocolate candy, chocolate covered things like espresso beans and potato chips.

A nice small size toy selection is in the back corner.  You will find Hello Kitty, cars, trucks, airplanes, trains, school busses,  different types of rockets and pinwheels.  We enjoyed playing with the large variety.  All are reasonably priced.

If you choose to sit and stay a while and enjoy a treat, the movie on the big screen will help entertain.  They generally play youth friendly movies and have several tables and chairs waiting for you.

If you are looking for a new spot or something different for a child's birthday party they can help you out.  Fuzziwig's offers a large party room with table and chairs for a reasonable fee. Call and schedule in advance.  You can decorate as you'd like and if you need ideas, activities or want to make a candy treat during the party Christina can help you out. They offer a few ad-on's.

My kids and I enjoyed our time there and the hospitality of the Thompson's.  They will be open late this Friday night in honor of NOHS (North Oldham High School) Homecoming, giving folks another place to hang out after the big game.

Fuzziwig's is on the web at http://www.fuzziwigscandyfactory.com/ and on Facebook www.facebook.com/FuzziwigsKY their address is 13206 US Hwy 42, Suite 104, Prospect, KY 40059 and you may call them at 502-384-4110.

    Hours of business are Monday-Thursday 11:00 - 9:00, Friday & Saturday 11:00-10:00 and Sunday 12:00-8:00.

    About Roxane Haynes

I am a working mother of four kids, age five and under, this includes two singletons and a set of twins. When I say working, I mean that I stay at home with them, but work my butt off to take care of them and get the "usual" things done for our home. I also help my husband with our business when I can. B.K. (before kids) I worked in the Human Resource field. Stay At Home Mom is by far my favorite career choice to date.
