    Danny O'Day and the Lush Life will be performing an array of blues and jazz standards at Clifton's Pizza (2030 Frankfort Ave) this Sunday, January 23 from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. O'Day encourages his friends to come and sit in during the night, making for lots of surprises.

    You might recognize Danny O' Day (real last name O' Bryan) as host of Jazz Insights, a show on 91.9 WFPK Sundays 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. 91.9 WFPK Radio-Louisville. He is also an adjunct English professor at Jefferson Community College and Technical School, a singer/saxophonist He worked his way through the University of Louisville as a stand-up comic and singer in local burlesque houses in the 1970s. During the 1980s he was a jazz critic and entertainment columnist for the Louisville Times SCENE magazine. In the 1990's, he was Theatre Editor of LEO magazine. He has also produced and hosted his own burlesque and variety shows in Louisville, while also participating in shows like Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard. His poetry and writing have also appeared in the Courier Journal and in The Highlander.

    His Jazz Insights radio program on WFPK is 33 years old. He produced the first Jazz Insights show in 1978 for WUOL FM radio while he was in graduate school completing a Masters Degree in Humanities.  Guests on his program at the time included jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and local guitar legend Jimmy Raney.

    There is no cover to see Danny O' Day and the Lush Life at Cliftons, and families are welcome.
