Last week, Cinemark Tinseltown kicked off their fall series of classic films with the John Huston film The African Queen

. It is an epic adventure set during the Great War. Of course, maybe epic isn't the right word when we take into account today's special film screening:

    Lawrence of Arabia.

Featuring sweeping scenes of desert climes, award-winning direction by David Lean, and a run time of three and a half ours,

    Lawrence of Arabia

stars Peter O'Toole as the title character, a British officer during the first World War. Stationed in Cairo, he is assigned Arabia to investigate the revolt against the Turks. While there, he struggles with the ideas of violence and loyalty, and in the process becomes a hero.

    Lawrence of Arabia

plays twice today at Tinseltown, at 2:00 and 7:00. Tinseltown is located at 4400 Towne Center Drive, in the Springhurst shopping center. Further theater information can be found at the Tinseltown website.

    About Allan Day

There are legitimate theories that the Big Bang originated from the collapse of a black hole in a fourth-dimensional universe. This stuff fascinates me, and I love reading about it. I love reading about science. And about anything, for that matter, provided it's interesting - and everything is potentially interesting, so I'm fascinated by a lot of things. I also read a lot of fiction (Kurt Vonnegut deserves deification) and watch a lot of movies (Charlie Chaplin also deserves deification). I've made a few short films myself. I'm also a writer of everything - I'm close to a Bachelor's in English at IUS. My life consists of reading, writing, bartending, and taking care of my daughter full-time. Life is busy and life is stressful, but that's why there's music and art and other forms of relaxation.
