    Bit to Do

Even the stodgiest of historians love Christmas!  All jibes aside, now is the time of year when most amongst us don those festive frocks and flock together in merry bands of food, drink and tradition.  All types of social and biological families unite for the glittering joys of the season and host fetes for their favorites.  The Filson Historical Society will spread its own brand of Holiday cheer to its members tonight!  As part of a Holiday “Thank you!” to the members who make the Filson’s mission possible, the historical society is hosting a free party to celebrate the season this evening at 5pm.

Billed exclusively for members-only, this free event will feature a lively reading of Truman Capote’s Christmas classic, A Christmas Memory, brought to life by veteran stage actor William McNulty.  McNulty, currently taking the spotlight in a portrayal of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol, has played more than 150 roles in his 30 seasons of residency at Actors Theatre, including four previous turns in the Charles Dickens’ classic.  Beginning with refreshments at 5pm, join the actor at The Filson for a dynamic re-telling of Capote’s timeless Holiday tale of childhood remembrance.  Latecomers can enjoy William McNulty’s special reading starting at 6pm.

Seating for this free, members-only event is limited, so reservations are required.  ‘Tis the season – and the season will be finished before you can find the time to celebrate – to mix and mingle with all kinds, shapes and sizes of “family”.  Find your party shoes, grab your favorite Filson friend and be there with bells on!

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
