Zanzabar hosts a night of indie rock this Thursday, October 21 in a venue that was voted the Best of Louisville Award for live music (with which I concur). With ample bar space, seating, and good food, this is a great spot to take in live music, and a cool place to hang out if you just want to check out bands that you haven't heard about before.

Headlining the night are The Walkmen, who recently released their sixth studio album, Lisbon, in September. From the Washington, D.C. area (most of them friends since attending high school together), they transplanted to Harlem in NYC. Together since 2000, the band includes lead vocalist and guitarist Hamilton Leithauser, Paul Maroon (guitar and piano), Walter Martin (organ and bass), drummer Matt Barrick, and Peter Bauer (also bass and organ).

Appearing with The Walkmen are Vancouver band, Japandroids, a guitar and drums duo, and Brooklyn-based band, Arms.

Tickets for the 9:00 p.m. show are available for $15 at the door, via TicketFly online, and at ear-X-tacy.
