CenterStage of the Jewish Community Center, now part of the Jewish Community of Louisville, opens “A Grand Night for Singing” Saturday and runs until Sept. 13, 2009 with ten performances.  The artistic director, John Leffert, is celebrating his tenth anniversary this year by recreating his first show at the center.

This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical opened the 1994 Broadway season, gaining wildly enthusiastic reviews over three decades after the duo’s final collaboration, “The Sound of Music”.  With innovative musical arrangements including a sultry Andrew Sisters-esque “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out’a My Hair,” a swingin’ “Honeybun,” and a jazzy “Kansas City,” this exhilarating revue leaves no question about how up-to-date the remarkable songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein remain.

Tickets for the show are on sale now and are available at the Jewish Community Center or by calling (502) 459-0660. Single tickets are $20 for the public and $16 for JCC members.
