Celebrity chef (and arguable Queen of Butter) Paula Deen will bring her saucy wit and Southern twang to the area Friday, Sept. 3, for the opening of The Paula Deen Buffet
at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, the casino right across the river from Louisville in Elizabeth, Ind.
Deen’s website
has a description
of her buffet, which offers such Southern staples as fried chicken, gumbo and grits. For folks who can't get down to Savannah to visit Deen's original restaurant, Lady and Sons, a trip to Horseshoe is the best way to try Deen's food firsthand.
There is will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. followed by an $80 brunch to benefit Blessings in a Backpack
, a charity that sends kids home on Fridays with a backpack full of food to fight childhood hunger. For tickets, call Horseshoe at (800) 872-4366.
