This is my first summer in Louisville and so far I am irritated. First off, I had no idea it would be so hot and humid here. For the most part, I am used to living in places where if the sun is shining, you're outside enjoying the weather. However, in Louisville, it has just been too hot and you end up stuck indoors.
Secondly, the mosquitoes here are insanely aggressive. I do not understand. I live in the Highlands, near no standing water, but I can not be in my yard for literally more than 30 seconds without getting a bug bit. I have to spray myself down with Cutters just to water my garden. Between the heat and the bugs, I haven't been able to enjoy my little yard at all. It's gross and annoying.
Interestingly enough, residents located in the Louisville Metro community may call in mosquito complaints to Metro Call (502-574-5000; the website gives the incorrect number to call). You bet your bug bits I called. They filed a complaint and a member of the Louisville Metro Health Department will be out next week to investigate the problem. "Incognito Mosquito" comes to mind. This is a serious investigation and a much needed one. I'm itching, literally, to get this problem taken care of.
