Bush, Nickelback play the YUM! Center Saturday, May 26

For many, the holiday weekend will spent lakeside, poolside, or finishing that spring cleaning.  The folks at the YUM! Center thought those staying in town could use a little grunge/alternative rock to make the weekend worth the extra day off, Monday.

Hailing from Canada, Nickelback is on tour in support of their latest LP to drop, Here and Now and invited Bush to come out on the road in support of their latest full length offering, The Sea of Memories. With both bands in post album mode, the tour kicked off with more than 60 dates confirmed, many in Europe.

Nickelback released six previous albums since the debut release of Curb in 1996, including  The State  (1999), Silver Side Up  (2001), The Long Road  (2003), All the Right Reasons (2005), and Dark Horse  (2008). Chad Kroeger  (vocals, guitar) founded the band with Ryan Peake (guitar, backing vocals), Mike Kroeger (bass), Brandon Kroeger (drums) in 1995.  In 1997, Brandon left to pursue other feats and after sitting with two drummers, Nickelback settled with Daniel Adair (drum) in 2005.

In 1992, a chance meeting in a London nightclub gave rise to what is Bush and would become Sixteen Stone.  After a few trials in the music industry, the album was released in 1994, under Interscope Records.  Bush subsequently released Razorblade Suitcase in 1996, The Science of Things(1999), and Golden State (2001, Atlantic Records) before disbanding in 2002.  This is Bush’s first tour in 8 years, and first album in 10.  Currently, Gavin Rossdale (lead guitar, vocals), Robin Goodridge (drums, percussion), Chris Traynor (lead guitar), and Corey Britz (bass guitar, backing vocals) round out the lineup for this tour.

Seether and My Darkest Days are the special guests for the evening’s festivities with many fresh tunes to warm up to Bush and Nickelback.  Tickets are still available for the show online and at the box office.  Prices are $59.50 and $77.50, respectively.  Show starts at 6:00 pm, so don’t be late!
