Believe it or not, Brownie’s “The Shed” is going to open a second location on Bardstown Road.
The news broke last night, when co-owner Jason Brown took to his personal facebook page to make the announcement. His post read:
“My family and I are extremely proud to announce that Brownies "The Shed" Grille & Bar will be opening up it's [sic] second location in the Highlands, on Bardstown Rd..... Big thank you to this wonderful city and all of the customers we have had over the years. We are blessed to have this opportunity to grow in the Louisville Area and are beyond excited about the future!!”
According to sources they’re aiming to open the new Bardstown Road location in November, in a vacant space near Cumberland Brewery in the 1500 block.
Brownie’s “The Shed” original location is a neighborhood bar in the east end of Louisville, which has anchored that end of town’s bar community for nearly nine years now. The Shed is known for heavy traffic from real bar regulars, late night service industry workers, and sports fans.
The bar is particularly warm and open to non-regulars, reflecting the values of the Brown family, who opened the original Wittington Parkway location in 2005. It was initially intended to be a central meeting place where their friends and family could congregate for good times and reasonably priced food and drink. Their staff has always been an extension of the family, radiating the same openness and welcoming demeanor as the family has incorporated since opening their doors nearly a decade ago.
The Browns have not yet made it public whether the new location will echo the original, warm hole-in-the-wall feel of their original spot, or if the new bar will adopt a new aesthetic that’s more in-line with The Highlands.
