Dear lovers of bacon and bourbon,
This Wednesday night at 6:30, The Blind Pig is teaming up with Four Roses for a 4-course bourbon dinner! Ingredients from each dish will be infused with the lovely amber liquid and paired with a different Four Roses expression, including Single Barrel, Small Batch, Yellow Label, and an upcoming 2012 Limited Edition Small Batch release. Here is the menu:
Four Roses’ Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge, will lead a brief discussion on the history of the company. Known for a signature smooth and mellow taste, Four Roses bourbon is said to have been named for the Southern belle with whom the founder, Paul Jones, Jr., fell in love. Legend has it that he sent her a marriage proposal, and her reply was that if she accepted, she would wear a corsage of roses on her dress at the upcoming ball. When she arrived, she wore 4 roses on her beautiful gown.
Established in Butchertown during March of 2010 by the two owners, Executive Chef Joe Frase and Michael Grider, The Blind Pig is a Louisville favorite and a fine example of a gastropub. They specialize in European comfort food with everything prepared in-house, including all smoking, curing, and sausage-making. Joe was recently interviewed in Food & Dining Magazine’s Fall publication (The Bourbon Issue). He’s got a sense of humor that makes me want to pinch his cheeks. Also, he agrees with me that foams look like spit and the trend needs to go. We’re soulmates.
Intrigued? Tickets are $65 per person. For reservations, call the Blind Pig at (502) 291-1074 [or (502) 618-0600]. See you there!
