With the prevalence of smart phones these days, everyone fancies themselves a photographer.
Including me.
So, you can imagine my excitement when this week I was clicking through links on the internet related to our beloved city and discovered that Louisville has a Spring Photo Contest going on right now.
What????
On the Louisville Metro Government website, Mayor Fischer states, “Louisville is a very special place with unique neighborhoods and attractions and we want people to capture that. Whether it’s on an iPhone or a Nikon, we want people scouring the city and taking cool and fun photos – show us what’s special about your neighborhood or street. This is the people’s photo contest and we want to get lots of images with people in them.”
Exciting, yes?
The theme is, “What makes you proud to be a Louisvillian?” Is it a place, a landmark, an event, a group of people? Whatever screams, “Louisville!’ to you, snap a photo and submit it to the contest. It’s free to enter and you can submit up to 10 images. There is also a youth submission category so the kiddoes in your life can participate as well.
The photo entries will be judged and the top winners in each category (adult and youth) will receive a prize package and have their winning photos displayed on the Louisvilleky.gov website and Mayor Fischer’s Facebook page. They also might be used in other city publications.
The deadline for entry is tomorrow, Friday, May 10.
Good luck, shutterbugs, and may the best photo win!
