They’re not sorcery, but wild and sour beers are the strangest, funkiest creatures of their kind. Born out of Mother Nature’s natural magic, brewers use “wild” yeasts versus cultivated ones to create the flavor profiles that are so distinct to wild and sour beers. Wild beer tends to be earthier, but when acidifying bacteria is added to the mix they are deemed “sour”. In celebration of these spontaneous creatures that make us pucker in delight, Against the Grain is hosting “Wild and Sour in America” this Thursday, September 17th.
Against the Grain along with Dauntless Distributing’s, Michael Minton, will host a guided tasting of some of the best wild and sour beers brewed in America. For $55 guests will sample more than 11 beers from several breweries that will also be paired with hors d’oeurves from Chef, Jordan DeLewis.
The beer tasting will feature beers from, Against the Grain, Evil Twin, Grimm Rainbow, Anchorage Brewing, Off Color, Central State, Prairie Artisan Ales, and more!
Chef Jordan DeLewis’s menu will include:
Tomato Tartare Ricotta, Fried Mint
Barbequed Octopus Beer braised with Cilantro, Chorizo, Queso Fresca
Pea Ravioli with Carrot Puree
Hot Chicken Hoecake, Pickle, Dill
