August Wilson is a playwright familiar to the stages of Actors Theatre, and his work will again grace the boards there as "Seven Guitars" kicks off the 2015-2016 season, opening this week.
In the production, 1948 Pittsburgh is home to Floyd Barton, a blues musician who has been set up on charges of vagrancy and has served time in jail because of them. The lyrically dramatic play tells of the events that led up to Barton’s untimely death through the voices of his friends and neighbors.
"Seven Guitars" opens Thursday, September 3 and runs through September 20th. Tickets are available online, or by calling the Actors Theatre box office at (502) 584-1205. Actors Theatre offers discounts for members of the military and their families.
Running concurrently with "Seven Guitars" is an annual favorite of the Louisville theatre community, Dracula, which runs September 11 through November 1.
