Actor’s Choice Theatre, the group that brought The Lion in Winter and The Vagina Monologues to Louisville audiences last year, returns with its new production of Topdog/Underdog.

Written by Suzan-Lori Parks, a Kentucky-born playwright, Topdog/Underdog explores life in the United States as an African-American male. The story follows the relationship between two adult brothers, Lincoln and Booth, who were abandoned by their parents years ago.

Says Actor’s Choice Producing Director Mike Seely, “We are extremely pleased to be doing this important work…This play helps to demonstrate the need for vigilance and the fact that some jobs are never done.”

The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2002.

The Louisville production is directed by locally acclaimed director Kathi E.B. Ellis, “I’ve loved ‘Topdog/Underdog’ since its Broadway production and have wanted to direct it ever since.” It stars Keith McGill and Brian Lee West.

Topdog/Underdog will be performed at the Henry Clay Theatre, 604 South Third Street, January 10-12 and 17-19 at 7:30pm. Sunday matinee performances will be held on January 13 and 20 at 2:30.

Tickets are $20/$17 and can be reserved by calling 502-495-8358.
