Louisville’s favorite concert series is set to begin on Wednesday April 22, 2009.  The WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® Concert Series is a monthly free concert on the Harbor Lawn in Louisville Waterfront Park.  The concerts will take place on the last Wednesday of every month, May through September.  The April event is moved one week early to April 22 to avoid conflict with the Kentucky Derby Festival Activities.

The Waterfront Development Corporation (WDC) and WFPK first partnered in 2002 to produce an innovative concert series that was free and showcased local and emerging national recording artists as heard on radio station 91.9 WFPK.  Each concert attracts large audiences to mingle, dance and enjoy the river.  They also enjoy a family-friendly park atmosphere, free admission, a cash bar and upscale festival fare.  Last year’s attendance grew to an average of 3,500+ per concert, with the July event exceeding 6,000 people.

The April 22 WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® concert is sponsored by Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company, Goose Island Brewing Company, Maker’s Mark

and Friends of the Waterfront, and will feature Todd Snider, Extra Golden and Tony Furtado.

The Harbor Lawn is located between the boat docks at the Great Lawn and the Children’s Play Area.  Parking is available along River Road, the Orange Lot, and surrounding pay lots.  The event begins at 5pm.  No outside alcohol, no glass and please, no pets.  Lawn chairs and blankets are welcomed.
