5 Ways To Enjoy Bourbon Fitness

Living the bourbon life isn’t just about drinking.  It’s an entire lifestyle that comes complete with new people and new adventures.  While you can certainly celebrate your love of bourbon with drinking, the bourbon life is whatever you make it.  Some people even make it about physical fitness, and here are some of the ways they do it.

    1. Bicycling through bourbon country is a great way to experience the best of Kentucky on many different levels.  Not only do you get to slow it way down and enjoy the countryside, you get to justify all those extra bourbon calories!
    2. Buffalo Trace hosts the Great Buffalo Chase 5K every summer in July.  Participants walk or run through the distillery grounds.
    3. The Bourbon Chase is a 200 mile long relay race through Kentucky’s countryside and distilleries.  It will take place this year October 16-17, starting at Jim Beam in Clermont and ending near Rupp Arena in Lexington.
    4. The Urban Bourbon Trail Half Marathon takes place in Louisville on October 24th.  The race starts on Main Street, winds through the Highlands, and ends on Main Street.  Participants can enjoy the bourbon lounge on The Belvedere after the race!
    5. Though it has passed for this year, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival 5k is part of the festivities each year, taking place in Bardstown.

Even just visiting a distillery can be a workout if you go on one of the extended tours.  There are lots of stairs and plenty of walking between facilities.  After all, you have to do something to earn those bourbon calories!
