For more than a few years, NPR has been hosting Tiny Desk Concerts. It's an idea that's very simple, but caught on by providing acoustic sets behind a desk (series creator Bob Boilen's desk to be specific) from both music legends and up-and-comers. The show has featured such musicians as Adele, Wilco and John Legend. The show recently got a lot of buzz when the usually autotuned rapper/singer T-Pain performed without the electronic help. The performance showed the world that the guy really had some singing chops.

For all of its existence until now, NPR has gone with the same formula: book a well-known or about to be well-known performer. This year, they have changed the script for one performance and they are allowing any band to submit a video and the winning group with have an opportunity to play a Tiny Desk Concert.

The simple rules of the submission were that entrants could not currently have a recording contract, videos could be no longer than 10 minutes, the song must be original, the video must be uploaded to YouTube and the song must be performed at a desk.

The winner will be announced on February 12.

The deadline for the contest was yesterday and at least seven Louisville bands submitted videos.
