Picnics are wonderful things. Summer provides us with (mostly) beautiful weather and fresh, local fruits and vegetables. So, why not eat those fresh, summer foods while en plein air - outdoors in the open air - somewhere nice and quiet or urban and ideal for people watching? Here’s a list of a few great places for picnics that you may not immediately think of (like Cherokee Park or Waterfront Park.)

Tuesday at 2:46pm EDT, USA Today released an article called “10 Best: Southern Style Biscuits.” Of course, being a Southern state, Kentucky had a good chance of being on that list. Which restaurant made the cut? Gralehaus? Toast? Harvest? Nope – they chose Lynn’s Paradise Café. A restuarant that has been closed for over a year.

Portland’s something of a buzzword in Louisville these days. It seems like everyone who's anyone is headed to the old port city. WHAS11 reported in May 2013 that Portland could be Louisville’s next BIG housing district - and I’ve heard rumors that you can propose a development plan and get a lot there for $500. As Ashlie Stevens said in a recent article for WFPL that was cited in Planetizen, “Change is coming to Louisville’s Portland Neighborhood, like it or not.” So what's up with Portland, anyway?...
