    For a week, the University of Louisville’s surprising baseball team has been the talk of the town, drawing record crowds at Jim Patterson Stadium for its first two games against NCAA Super Regional foe Oklahoma State. On Sunday, the Cards and Cowboys will move to the national center stage (ESPN) for the deciding game of their best-of-three series.

    Louisville’s unexpected run to the NCAA Super Regional has produced new U of L sports heroes, new nicknames and new demands on the staff at the University of Louisville. On Saturday, Coach Dan McDonnell (pictured left) and his squad take on Oklahoma State in Game 2 of their best-of-three series (12 noon, ESPNU). The Cards won the first contest 9-0 on Friday in front of a stadium record crowd of 4,023.

    Louisville outfielder Isaiah Howes (Pleasure Ridge Park, Louisville) homered to left field to help give the Cardinals a 3-0 first-inning lead over Oklahoma State in the NCAA Super Regional at Jim Patterson Stadium on the U of L campus. The victory positions the Cards to within one victory of a first-ever trip to the College World Series. Athletic director Tom Jurich jetted back to campus from a national awards ceremony just in time to enjoy the final out of U of L's 9-0 triumph.
