The Night of Silk Derby Party at Louisville's independently owned hotel, the Galt House, was a definite success. Jockey's who have won past Derby races and jockeys who rode in this years Oaks and Derby race were present and talking with guests to show their support for the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (PDJF).
Over 500 beautiful people (and at least one fat dude in a tuxedo-- your correspondent) rocked the Mellwood Arts Center.

Driving hard, Regally Ready and jockey Corey Nakatani captured the 17th running of the Grade III Twin Spires Turf Sprint by a length and a quarter over Bridgetown at Churchill Downs on Saturday afternoon.

Derby season isn't just for horse races. There are plenty of other races to watch, even with the flooded-out Great Steamboat Race rescheduled to June. Rodents, wait staffs with wine and beds with wheels, all have their day, even schoolchildren galloping through parking lots throughout the mythic region known as Kentuckiana.
