Yesterday, I took a look at past Derbys and movies that go along with each era. Essentially, I’ve been taking a look at the winners, interesting facts, and assigning a horse racing related movie to every decade and that brings us to today, where we’re up to the 1950’s.
Well, were within days from the most exciting two minutes in sports history and last year at this time I took a little bit of time to share some movies related to the “sport of kings” that would get everybody in the mood for the Derby.
Since 1985 the Kentucky Derby Museum has been preserving the image of the Kentucky Derby and horse racing in the region as a whole, for that reason they are a Sports legend of the 'Ville.
For years now Churchill Downs has been attracting big names from all over the world- I decided to take a look at just a few of the celebrities that have passed through the Derby through the decades in honor of that.
The Kentucky Derby this year made me wonder, "what jockeys have won the most in the history of the event?"
I believe the city that is trying to "keep weird" as so many bumper stickers I've seen say needs the related sports. A few of those "weird" sports, I'd like to suggest.
Matt Winn might have spent much of his sports related career in the background, however that doesn't minimize his contribution to Louisville sports.
