The victory kept Louisville a half-game behind Columbus in the International League West, but gave them a four game lead over Syracuse in the IL wildcard race with five games to play.

However despite the loss Louisville maintained its half-game lead over Columbus in the International League West because the Clippers lost to Toledo on Sunday evening.
Homer Bailey continued to show that he is ready to return to the parent Cincinnati Reds, giving up six hits while striking out nine over seven innings as Louisville beat Norfolk 6-0 Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field. That helped Bailey extend his scoreless streak to 13 2/3 innings and tied the Bats for the International League lead in shutouts (12).
The Louisville Bats have released reliever Jon Adkins, who last month became the franchise leader in career save and was leading the team in that category this season.
Right-handed pitcher Edinson Volquez, making his fourth rehabilitation start with Louisville on his comeback from Tommy John surgery, gave up only one hit over seven innings as the Bats shutout Toledo 3-0 Friday night.
