When Louisville was selected to be the location for the 2008 Ryder Cup tournament, the community went into overdrive to make sure that Louisville citizens could get the most out of the historic, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Galas, gatherings, and top-notch (and top dollar) events were created for those who would miss the action on the golf course but wanted to be included in the scene and the feel of what was happening.
But, as all too often happens, the majority of these events planned were geared toward adult and young adult participation. Younger children who either love golf or have never had the chance to fall in love with the game were being left out of the activities.
Enter the Putter Cup, an all-fun golf activity for Louisville kids age 7-12 that will not only get kids involved in the week, but will help raise funds for Chidren's Hospital Foundation.
The tournament is scheduled for September 13, 2008 from 8:30am-1pm
A total of seventy-two (72) teams of two will vie for the championship and a TBD grand prize. Each team will consist of a parent and a child between 7 and 12 years of age. A leader board will be kept with teams reporting their scores every 9 holes.
Entry fee is $35 per team and will include morning refreshments, T-shirt, 36 holes of mini-golf, Lunch, and prizes.
