The 16th annual Komen Louisville Race for the Cure® presented by Kroger is Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Waterfront Park. The Race for the Cure® raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. A new feature to the event this year is the addition of a 10K to the 5K Race and One-Mile Family Fun Walk. Online registration for both individual and team participation the Race is now open at komenlouisville.org. Prices range from $15 for youth (Grade 8 or lower) to $35 for Adult 10K fee. Sleep In for the Cure® is also available for those who want to support the Race but are not able to be there. Sleep In registration is $35, and includes the cost to mail shirts directly to the participants. V.I.Pink tickets are $100 and include Race registration and admission to the V.I.Pink area, which offers a luxurious lounge with massages and delicious treats in a beautiful garden-like setting. Oct. 8 Fifth Third Bank's Dracula Louisville's original Halloween cult thriller! The vampire hunt is on! Experience the Halloween tradition that drips with suspense—and even more blood. Perhaps you haven't been paying attention, but Bonnie Prince Billy is clearly one of the great American songwriters to emerge in the last decade. Listen more closely, and you'll see. Over the course of five albums and countless singles, compilation tracks, collaborations, live performances and material not intended for release, Bonnie Prince Billy has become a sought after commodity around the free world, as well as some of the uncharted, 'evil' parts of the planet. The Bonnie Prince got his start as the featured singer with the Palace Music band. He struck out on his own in 1998. His first expression was a curious one: 'I Am Drinking Again.' When had we ever known him to drink before When had we even known him at all Here, Bonnie’s black humor first raised its hoary head, and belched a good one. This record set the tone for that first year: four singles on four different labels from three different countries. This delivered the message that Bonnie belonged to no one man but conversely, to the whole freaking world. Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. | ||||
