Kentucky Flea Market at Kentucky Expo Center The Kentucky Flea Market is coming to the Kentucky Expo Center. Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend browsing through hundreds of booths filled with antiques, collectibles, sports memorabilia and more that will delight bargain hunters of all ages. Here's a list of the dates and times: Friday: Noon-7 p.m. Kentucky Expo Center - South Wing C ZombieFest @ Headliners There will be live music from Angels on Acid, Espermachine, Absence of Faith, Guano Loco, LifeLink, and Sonik Foundry, with DJ Coppertop and Count Grozny spinning music between bands. Zombie-inspired art, jewelry, T-Shirts, and even soap on sale. There is a costume contest so, dress to incite fear. July 1, 6–11 p.m. Louisville Brewfest @ the Mellwood Arts Center Commemorate Independence Day with independent brewers at this year’s Louisville Brewfest on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 4:00pm to 10:00pm at the Mellwood Arts Center. Attendees can celebrate the uniqueness of Louisville independent brews and independent businesses while browsing a silent auction and merchandise from locally owned retailers, listening to live music and receiving free City Scoot rides home. Participating breweries include: the BBC Tap Room Beer and Food Tickets cost $1 each (sample beer=1 ticket, full pour=3 tickets). Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center 2011 Kentucky 4-H Horse Show at KY Expo Center The 2011 Kentucky 4-H Horse Show will be held at Broadbent Arena and the Covered Arena. This annual horse show will feature more than 700 youth from across the Bluegrass State competing in various 4-H divisions and categories. Saturday, July 2 – Saturday, July 9. July 2–3, 2011, 10 a.m. Waterfront Independence Festival presented by Fifth Third Bank The Waterfront Independence Festival presented by Fifth Third Bank Louisville’s premier July 4th celebration. The two-day festival is Waterfront Park's largest event of the summer and is produced by the Waterfront Development Corporation. Each year, more than 150,000 people attend the event, which features concerts by national recording artists, children’s activities, a festival food & beer garden and fireworks over the Ohio River both nights. The free concerts this year will feature The Band Perry(top) and Kip Moore on July 3, and Funky Meters (bottom),De La Soul and Fitz and the Tantrums on July 4th. You can bring: Blankets, and lawn chairs are allowed. You can bring water in small plastic bottles as long as it has not been opened—the seal must be unbroken. You cannot bring outside food and alcohol, glass, coolers, cans, bottles, pets, amplification devices, signs or banners more than 24"x24", tents, bicycles inside the event space (a secure bicycle valet parking service will be provided near event entrance on the South Great Lawn in exchange for a donation), skateboards and weapons. Waterfront Park - The Great Lawn St. Luke's PIGnic Why fire up your grill on 4th of July weekend, when you can eat award-winning barbecue, enjoy events for the kids and benefit area charities at the same time? St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Anchorage, Ky., will hold its third annual PIGnic on Sunday, July 3rd, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., outside the church on Maple Lane. The menu will include pork barbecued by the church’s Brotherhood of St. Andrew, which has an award-winning record at local barbecue competitions.
