The reception is free to the public, and will feature mini hot browns, wine and cheese. “My new series of equine paintings and studies is inspired by the idea of The Mythical Horse,” explains the artist, Jaime Corum. “I grew up steeped in the great horse mythology of The Black Stallion, Black Beauty, Flame, Thunderbolt, Phar-Lap, and King of the Wind. Then and now, horses hold such symbolic power for me. It seems only a small step to give to them the names and attributes of mythological characters. With unabashed romanticism The Mythical Horse portrays the horse as ideal, symbol, mystery and saint.” Gallery at The Brown is an exciting venue showcasing the work of top Kentucky artists. The ever-changing gallery located in the Shop at The Brown is a wonderful place to find truly unique artwork and gifts. Guest services include personal shopping and shipping. * * * Jaime Corum has been drawing horses ever since she can remember and riding horses ever since she could talk her parents into it. Her equine art is inspired by her own experience with horses. Jaime's art evolved from creating portraits of friend's horses for fun to a full time career of commissioned portraits and original compositions. Her primary areas of expertise are thoroughbred racing, dressage, and eventing, but she loves to work with horses of all shapes and sizes. A native Kentucky girl, Jaime currently lives and works in Louisville. She received her undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University and her Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Kentucky. Her work can be viewed online at http://jaimecorum.com.
