21c SUNDAY SERIES: CABARET LIFE DRAWING & YOGA WITH ART

    Yoga with Art 2:30-4:00pm, $5

    Cabaret Life Drawing 4:30-6:30pm, $10 ($5 students)

BYOM (bring your own mat) for Yoga with Art. Flex those creative muscles as you work through a variety of ancient poses. Sessions are just $5 at the door and are led by Certified Yoga Teachers Skylar Smith, Jonathan Swanz, Teresa Phelps Martin, and Ashley-Brooke McGinty. Attendees should bring their own mat or towel and water and arrive early to ensure a spot because space is limited.

Cabaret Life Drawing is an evening of provocative inspiration hosted by the 21c Museum. It presents an array of burlesque starlets, fetish models, magicians, hula hoop artists and elaborately costumed showgirls whose performance and poses provide the basis for guests to sketch in a series of individual pencil and charcoal drawings. Throughout the evening, performers create and hold a series of poses ranging from 30 seconds to 15 minutes, allowing guests time to capture a quick sketch of each. Focusing on contrapposto and chiaroscuro, instructors help guests explore the weight shift of the model in the hips, shoulders, and head, as well as the distribution of light and shade for general dramatic effect. Attendees should bring their own drawing supplies and arrive early to ensure a spot because space is limited. Please bring exact change for class fees.
