    Preconcert activities begin at 10am

    Watch the sparks fly as the Classical Clown battles the maestro for
    control of the orchestra! It’s a symphonic showdown set to the usually
    serious sounds of Beethoven, Grieg, Britten and Stravinsky. By the time
    this merry Comedy Concerto is over the clown has conducted, the
    conductor has become a clown, and even the audience has gotten into the
    act.

    This two-day
    class covers the basics of working with rods of glass in front of a
    torch. Learn how to make our own collections of flameworked glass beads
    made with Moretti Glass (soft colorful glass from Italy). The first day
    begins with a safety and equipment overview followed by leaning how to
    layer and shape the glass. During the second day you learn the core
    decorative techniques of dots, wrap, and pulled patterns. Minimum 3

    Description:

    The
    Steward’s Staff will host its 3rd annual Unity Brunch fundraiser, in
    celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday,
    January 18, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at The Gillespie located
    at 421 W. Market Street. This year’s theme is “Our World Community”.

    Celebrating its 3rd year, this cornerstone event is about
    recognizing our community leaders and driving the need to foster
    greater cross-cultural bonds. Metro Louisville is home to over 91
    immigrant countries, and over 80 languages are spoken in our school
    district. This year, the program youth of The Steward’s Staff will be
    the focus of the event, where they will display their interpretations,
    viewpoints and passions around diversity. The Steward’s Staff will also
    present various members of the community with its Unity Staff Award.
    The award recognizes leaders that have demonstrated a strong commitment
    to diversity in work/school and in life. Awards will be presented to: a
    youth, a young professional, a seasoned professional, an organization
    and a corporation.
