Dear Weekender subscriber,As we head into this long, wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, we have plenty of opportunity to spend time with friends and family, eat too much, and take part in a great number of fun activities that are found in our great city. Believe us, there is plenty to do this weekend to keep you occupied. You can find it in our calendar. But this week for your list of things to do, we want to take the opportunity to share with you just a small sampling of ways you can serve those less fortunate so you can reap the rewards of what it's like to give when most are giving thanks for what they've received. So as you take some time this weekend to relax, shop, and carve up a turkey, also try to carve out some time to make a difference in our community.
Of course, this is not an exhaustive list. You can find more volunteer opportunities in our region at https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/index.jsp?r=msa&l=47199%2C+ Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend. Sincerely, The staff at Louisville.com American Red Cross: http://www.louisville-redcross.org
Louisville is a part of the River Valley Blood Services Region, and we are usually always in a blood shortage. The Red Cross schedules multiple blood drives each day to meet the needs of our hospital partners. Our blood donors devote their time and the gift of life to help those in need. With multiple blood drives each day, we need volunteers! We have blood drives all across the Louisville Metro area! Greeters assist the Red Cross in accomplishing its mission by welcoming blood donors and providing a professional registration process for blood collection. Blood drives are either located at our downtown collection site or at community mobiles near you. Be a part of the American Red Cross legacy and help your community prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It's easy to become a Red Cross volunteer, and they will work with you to find the area that best suits your skills. You can lend your services daily, weekly, monthly or as many hours as you are able to give. You can easily make a difference in people's lives every hour of the day when they need it most.
