Derby Thursday Brunch at the Speed Art Museum Kick off the homestretch to Derby with local flair. On your way to the track-stop at the Speed for brunch from Café Fraiche, passed cocktails, shuttle service to the track every half hour from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and parking in the Museum garage. Musical entertainment by Louisville-based folk trio The River Sirens. Ticket also includes admission to Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color. May 3, 11 a.m. Republic Bank Pegasus Parade The parade, first held in 1956, is the Derby Festival's oldest event. It began on a budget of $640 and now provides an impact in excess of $14 million to the local economy. In 2011, the 56th annual Republic Bank Pegasus Parade marched down Broadway under beautiful weather conditions. Themed Heroic Adventures, the parade attracted a record crowd estimated at 275,000. May 3, 5 p.m. Clay Walker at Fourth Street Live! Multiplatinum recording artist Clay Walker brings his country music talents to the Live! stage. Walker first topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1993 with “What’s It To You”. He now has four platinum albums, two gold albums, 31 titles on Billboard’s singles charts, with 11 number one hits, including “Dreaming with my Eyes Open,” “This Woman and This Man,” and “Live Until I Die.” Walker was recently featured on ABC’s The Bachelor, performing his new single, “Like We Never Said Goodbye." Must be 21 or over after 7 p.m. May 3, 8 p.m.
Guy Fieri hosts Oaks Bourbon Brunch The Louisville Marriott Downtown is proud to announce celebrity chef and NBC’s Minute to Win It host Guy Fieri will return to host the fourth annual Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch benefiting Kosair Children’s Hospital. May 4, 8 am. Oaks Friday Daytime Festival with the Louisville Crashers Watch the Kentucky Oaks on huge LED screens as the fillies run for the lilies, and rock out with a free live show from local favorite The Louisville Crashers. May 4, 12 p.m. Unbridled Eve Gala This black-tie optional gala features a celebrity red carpet entrance, cocktail reception, gourmet dinner and dancing, as well as deluxe specialty bars, fabulous entertainment, and a live and silent auction. Auction items include game tickets in the L.A. Lakers owner’s suite, a private poker game with World Series of Poker Champ Phil Hellmuth, tickets to The Masters golf tournament, VIP Indy 500 Experience, fabulous original art and Emmy tickets. Historic Homes Foundation Derby Breakfast The Historic Homes Foundation is pleased to announce that it will host, along with media sponsor Garden & Gun magazine, the 34th annual Historic Homes Foundation Derby Breakfast. Tickets include a sumptuous upscale breakfast featuring country ham, roasted chicken, beef tenderloin, Kentucky smoked bacon and sausage patties, fresh spring asparagus, roasted herb red skin potatoes, fresh seasonal fruit and berries, a lavish bakery display including muffins, croissants, coffee cakes, bread sticks and French bread and an array of tempting desserts to include bourbon banana pudding, raspberry and lemon bars and mint julep and Oaks Lilly cupcakes. The Derby Breakfast's open bar will offer favorite Derby cocktails, as well as fresh juices and coffee. May 5, 9:30 a.m. Kentucky Derby 138 The Kentucky Derby is run every year on the first Saturday of May at Churchill Downs. The race is 1.25 miles long and often called the fastest two minutes in sports, the run for the roses, or where your kid's college tuition money ended up. A field of 20 three-year-old thoroughbreds will compete to win this first leg in the Triple Crown in 2012, which marks the 138th running of this timeless sporting tradition. Night of... features a live band, passed hors d’oeuvres and limited top-shelf libations. This is the mare-of-all-derby-parties and benefits the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund. May 5, 8 p.m.

May 6, 4 p.m. Twilight Tour of Cave Hill Cemetery Enjoy a twilight tour of Cave Hill Cemetery on a tractor-driven, rustic hay wagon with Michael Higgs or Steve Wiser. All proceeds benefit the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation. May 6, 6:30 p.m. Inside|Out at the Speed Art Museum Inside|Out is an exhibition illustrating how art and nature will connect at the new Speed when the Museum reopens after its unprecedented $50 million renovation and expansion project. Several new acquisitions premier in Inside|Out, including two bronze horses by artist Deborah Butterfield. Also on view are never before seen large-scale works by Richard Serra and Roy Lichtenstein.
