Dan Gediman at Carmichael's Just in time for Mother's Day, Carmichael's is proud to host the editor of the popular This I Believe series, Dan Gediman, for a signing of his newest collection of essays This I Believe on Motherhood. Several of the essayists featured in the book will be in attendance as well. May 10, 7–8:30 p.m. Young American Shakespeare Festival at Walden Theatre With three plays in repertory, Walden Theatre's annual Young American Shakespeare Festival can do it all. This year's lineup includes The Bard's classics Titus Andronicus and Cymbeline plus the vicious satire Volpone by his contemporary Ben Jonson. May 10–20 Inside|Out at the Speed Art Museum Inside|Out is an exhibition illustrating how art and nature will connect at the new Speed when the Museum reopens after its unprecedented $50 million renovation and expansion project. Several new acquisitions premier in Inside|Out, including two bronze horses by artist Deborah Butterfield. Also on view are never before seen large-scale works by Richard Serra and Roy Lichtenstein. Neil Berg's '101 Years of Broadway' Neil Berg's 101 Years of Broadway is a recreation of the best moments from the biggest Broadway shows. Award-winning composer Neil Berg has again brilliantly revived arrangements of Broadway classics as well as numbers from Broadway's newest hit shows that are supported by an all-star New York cast and band. Don't miss the music of your favorite Broadway composers from Andrew Lloyd Weber to Stephen Sondheim and more. May 11, 7:30 p.m. Fleur De Licious—Louisville Restaurant Week Fleur De Licious, Louisville's restaurant week, is a nine-day event that allows visitors and residents to experience some of the city's new and exciting downtown cuisine. Fleur De Licious is also proud to be partnering with the Hometown Tourist Celebration, in connection with National Tourism Week. With some of Louisville's finest restaurants such as Harvest, Hillbilly Tea and Vincenzo's taking part, this event will surely be a delight for foodies and those looking to experience downtown's dining atmosphere. May 11–20 Paddock Concert Series at Churchill Downs Admission gates will open at 1:30 p.m. and the first race will be 2:45 p.m. Happy Hour drink specials include $3 Stella Draft Beer from 4-7 p.m. in the paddock area. The featured performer, Eric Lindell, is expected around 8:15 p.m. The first 850 people in attendance for the concert will be allowed access into the saddling paddock to watch the concert up close in a VIP watch area free of charge. Focusing on engaging with the museum’s current exhibition, Inside|Out, this studio will explore art techniques and ideas by bringing art alive through hands-on activities.
