    Poorcastle 2015

    Poorcastle Festival began between friends in the summer of 2013 with the intent to showcase Louisville's best local bands. In 2015, Poorcastle is bringing three full days of local music with 33 bands from right here in Louisville. You can see 2015's lineup here. 

    Poorcastle Festival brings together Louisville's community in support of true local music with proceeds benefitting the nonprofit radio station, Crescent Hill Radio 100.9 WCHQ FM, which plays all-local music all the time.

    Floetry Reunion Tour 

    Floetry was an English R&B duo comprising Marsha Ambrosius ("the Songstress") and Natalie Stewart ("the Floacist"). The group recorded two studio albums, one live album and sold over 1,500,000 records worldwide.

    Louisville Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival

    NNothing goes better with blues music than hot barbecue! Catch the tunes of New Orleans and Memphis while you eat with your hands at Four Roses Bourbon Louisville Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival. Indulge in a variety of barbecue styles from the best smokehouses in town, all cooking up their secret recipes for your pleasure! No food, drink or pets allowed. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.

    No Laughing Matter: Preserving Cartoons in The Filson’s Special Collections

    Cartoonists have used humor to encourage people to think in new ways, to criticize those in power, to challenge the status quo or simply to point out absurdity in our society. This lecture will discuss the lives and careers of cartoonists whose creative works are preserved in The Filson's collections. Featured will be artists such as Fontaine Fox, Jr., whose beloved Toonerville Folks cartoon ran in hundreds newspapers across the nation for over 40 years.

    Jim Lauderdale and His Bluegrass Band with The Misty Mountain String Band

    Jim Lauderdale has always stayed true to his North Carolina roots but is influenced from the experience of his travels. He first immersed himself in the early country music scenes of both New York City and Los Angeles before breaking through in Nashville as a songwriter.

    Homearama at Spring Farm Lake 2015

    Since 1968, the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville Homearama has given Louisville residents the opportunity to tour more than 800 homes, each reflecting the unique and professional talents of builders, interior designers, craftspeople and landscape architects. At Homearama you can discover decorating ideas and design trends, shop artwork and furniture, or buy the home of your dreams!

    Drew Estate "Tienda Exclusiva" by Willy Herrara Cigar Release Event

    Made at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate, this release is a small batch, specially crafted cigar produced just for us! We will begin selling this “Tienda Exclusiva” cigar at a release event, during which Willy Herrera will be in attendance to discuss the unique blend – so come on by, get a taste and meet the maker!

    Paddle for Hunger

    Paddle for Hunger, presented by the Louisville Mayor’s Office and Yum! Brands, is a fun-filled day of teambuilding and competition as teams of ten race voyager canoes on the Ohio River. Proceeds benefit Dare to Care Food Bank.

    REMINISCE Celebrating DJ ZNYCE B-DAY

    Lagers Club and BBC Brew-Off Contest Brunch and Arts and Crafts Fair

    Along with the Lagers Homebrewer contest, Bluegrass Brewing Company will feature a limited brunch buffet inside (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.), outside games and booths featuring local artist vendors (9 a.m. – 1 p.m.). Come watch the brewers work, have brunch, play some outside games and check out some local artists. This is a dog-friendly event. BBC in St. Matthews and the Lager's Club have partnered to host a brew-off for a chance to brew on the BBC system and have your beer tapped and served during craft beer week.

    Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social Family Day

    Come out for a relaxing family-friendly day on the banks of the Ohio River on Sunday. You can enjoy music by Beatles tribute band The Rigby’s, Magic by Dave Cotrell, an Ice Cream Eating Contest, a miniature train ride, pony rides, a farm animal petting zoo, an archaeology dig and tours of the historic Farnsley-Moremen House (1/2 price). All other activities are free with the exception of food and ice cream purchases. Food vendors: Shack in the Back Barbeque and Ehrler’s Ice Cream. Special bonus: The Friends of the Southwest Library will be holding a book sale in the Riverside Visitors Center. Find great books at bargain prices!
