For 502 Restaurant Week, Local restaurants, including Del Frisco’s, Volare, Bourbons Bistro and Asiatique prepare a special 3-course menu for $50.20 per couple, or $50.20 per person. You can find a list of participating restaurants here, with some menu information and details. This is a great chance to support local businesses, try new restaurants, and enjoy your weekend in a whole new way! February 28, 6 – 10:30 p.m. John Prine with Special Guest Elizabeth Cook at the Brown Theatre Grammy Award-winner John Prine is the ultimate songwriter for people who love good stories, bittersweet truths, and sly humor. In hits like “Dear Abby,” “Spanish Pipe Dream,” and “Sam Stone,” Prine’s casual vocal delivery draws people in, while his detailed lyrics illuminate situations that remain in memory long after the song has ended. Prine was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2003. The 2014 Polar Plunge season is just around the corner and all six Special Olympics Kentucky Polar Plunge events are scheduled! So mark your calendars and get ready to be Freezin’ for a Reason. Exhibiting artists include printmakers Nick Baute and Robert Ronk of Hound Dog Press, multi-media artist Susanna Crum, and painter and illustrator Douglas Miller. The exhibit runs February 3rd through August 3rd 2014 in the Museum’s Pollard Gallery. March 1, 10 – 6 p.m. Villains! at the Green Building Gallery For the exhibition “Villains!” Chris Reeves and Matt Wiseman present a series of visual situations representative of ideas that can imply villainy – progress, inertia, no fun – and the objects themselves are meant to act as perpetrators of resistentialism. The works presented together are an exploration of what villainy means to the individual: sometimes heavy, sometimes trivial, but always present waiting to make our days more difficult. March 1, 1 – 2 p.m. 2014 Speed Art Museum Ball The Speed Art Museum Ball, held every year on the first Saturday in March, is the most significant fundraiser for the Speed. The museum is closed during its expansion and has created a satellite space in NuLu, Local Speed, to provide the community with art-related programs for children, families and adults. Benefactor tickets for the gala event are $550 per person. The Benefactor evening begins at 6 p.m. and includes cocktails, dinner, dancing, and dessert. Friends of the Speed tickets are $150 per person. The Friends of the Speed evening begins at 9 p.m. and includes cocktails, dancing, and dessert.
