Let’s Eat! ![]() ![]() Be Part of The Filson’s “Blues Night”Featuring the 10th Street Blues BandThis weekend, The Filson presents an exciting evening that includes a special performance of Louisville’s own 10th Street Blues Band along with an interesting overview of the history of the “Blues” and its place in Louisville’s culture. Blues is a key part of Louisville’s history, with its roots dating back to the early 20th century. Several legendary blues artists called the River City home, including Sylvester Weaver, who recorded the firstblues guitar record in 1923. Other local blues legends include Bill Gaither, Sarah Martin, Helen Humesand Edmonia Henderson. The 10th Street Blues Band, which will play blues hits from the 1950s and 60s, has been featured at The Kentucky Folk Life Festival in Frankfort and in blues clubs and festivals statewide. Sonny Sitgraves (drums), Matt Swenson (bass), Billy Bird (vocals and harmonica) and Pen Bogert (guitar) have been playing together for many years. Bogert, a former Filson staff member, will provide an overview of the history of blues. Wine, beer, and light refreshments will be served. Tailspin Ale Fest 2015: Louisville's Winter Warmer Tailspin Ale Fest warms Louisville with 150 craft beers and a new night for barrel-aged ales, bourbons & spirits!
