2014 marks the tenth anniversary of the (self-proclaimed) oldest and largest zombie walk in the world. This year's Zombie Attack actually has two starting points: Mid City Mall's parking lot and also (the traditional) the corners of Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road. The walk ends at Highland Taproom. The official pre-party is at the Back Door, and the event/post-party is at Highland Taproom (1058 Bardstown Road) where there'll be music both inside (featuring Dead Dick Hammer, Trophy Wives, and We Are Hex) and on an outdoor stage in the middle of Bardstown Road (featuring Dead Halo, Vice Tricks, and Nulydedz). There'll also be a costume contest for Grossest Zombie, Hot Zombie, King & Queen Zombie, Kid Zombie, and The Golden Machete (best overall). Bardstown Road will be closed from Eastern Parkway to Highland Avenue during the Zombie Walk!

12th Annual WorldFest at the Belvedere
WorldFest, one of the region’s largest international festivals, will span the entire Labor Day weekend for its 12th year as it features four days of international food, music, dance and culture on Louisville’s Belvedere downtown. Exciting international music will come from more than 90 bands and performers while more than 30 food vendors and nearly 150 booths provide a global sampling of cuisine and culture. 31st Annual Pioneer 5K at Seneca Park
The AT&T Kentucky Pioneer Volunteers challenges area runners and walkers to step out to help The Saint Nick Fund at the 31st annual Pioneer 5K Run/Walk. The USATF certified and sanctioned race runs through Seneca and Cherokee Parks on August 30, starting at 8:00 a.m. rain or shine at the Seneca Park Park softball fields. Walkers and runners of all ages are welcome, and we encourage families to run or walk together. 20th Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle
Join Mayor Greg Fischer for the 20th Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle! For cyclists, a 15-mile route will leave Waterfront Park and go west to Shawnee Park, one of Louisville’s signature Olmsted-designed Metro Parks. Turnoffs will provide cycling routes as short as two miles. The hiking route, which is wheelchair-accessible, will take walkers west along the Riverwalk and wharf to the Belvedere Connector and through portions of downtown. Walkers can bring their dogs on the hike, but must keep them on a leash and pick up waste as required by law. Paddlers will have two options at the event. At 10 a.m., they can take a 3-mile course up the Ohio River to Beargrass Creek following the channel along Towhead Island. A more adventurous course at 11 a.m. will take canoeists and kayakers through the McAlpine Locks and Dam to the Jaycees Boat Ramp in New Albany. TARC will offer a shuttle service for paddlers to retrieve their vehicles back at the launch site. All paddle participants will launch their canoes or kayaks at the river ramp located at the Harbor Lawn of Waterfront Park. Paddlers can drop their boats off at the “Green” parking lot near River Rd. and Witherspoon Dr. from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
