    Hank Williams Jr. with George Thorogood and the Destroyers at the State Fair

    Hank Williams Jr. and his 20 gold albums, six platinum albums and 10 No. 1 singles will kick off the Main Stage Concert series on Aug. 16. Hits like “Country Boy Can Survive,” “Dixie on My Mind” and “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight” are among Williams’ fan favorites. George Thorogood and the Destroyers will open playing material from his latest album, 2120 South Michigan Ave. A breakthrough came when Thorogood and The Destroyers opened for The Rolling Stones on their 1981 tour. Since 1981, the band has sold 15 million albums worldwide, with their most recent album peaking at number one on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart.

    Summer Showdown Car Show at The Castle

    The Second Annual Summer Showdown Car Show is hosted by the Michael Feger Paralysis Foundation. The first 100 vehicles to register will get a dash plaque and goodie bag. All proceeds benefit Michael Feger Paralysis Foundation Inc. Trophies will be given to the Top 35 Cars/Trucks. Special Trophies include Best of Show +$100, People’s Choice, Kid’s Choice and Club Participation. Awards start at 4 p.m. We will also have a silent auction, music, food, door prizes, 50/50 and face painting for the kids. All proceeds benefit the Michael Feger Paralysis Foundation.

    Lessons Learned Garden Tour

    Master gardeners Russ Stevens and Laura Peot will show how they are changing their backyard into a successful vegetable garden using organic growing techniques. They will provide tips on soil care, organic techniques, and care and maintenance of the garden.
 The garden will be available for touring any time throughout the day.

    Salute to the Legends Golf Classic

    Bring your colleagues, golf team, friends and family on Sunday, August 19th for An Evening With the Legends. Former University of Louisville and University of Kentucky basketball players and coaches, along with other local sport celebrities, will join us for a night of nostalgia and celebration. Hosted by Volare Italian Ristorante, the evening will feature a silent auction, a one of a kind raffle drawing, heavy hors d’oeuvres created by Volare’s talented Executive Chef Josh Moore, and a cash bar.  Monday, August 20th brings an 18-hole golf scramble at the beautiful Woodhaven Country Club, including a putting contest, a hole in one contest and much more with Kentuckiana’s favorite Legends! Enjoy lunch prior to or after your selected starting time of 8:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Pastries and coffee will be served for those selecting the 8:00 a.m. start time.  Proceeds of the Salute to the Legends Golf Classic will benefit the kids at Boys and Girls Haven and the programs supported through our mission to shelter, heal, and teach young people to become productive and healthy members of our community.

    Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Awareness Ride and Poker Run

    Raise money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
    Ride day registration begin at 7:30 a.m. Registration will be held in the front of the two-story glass administration building at Ford Kentucky Truck Plant. Motorcycles staged at gate 2 entrance. Ride leaves at 9 a.m. rain or shine. Additional raffle tickets, poker hands and silent auction items will be available for purchase on the day of the ride.
