Diana Ross at the Palace In a remarkable career spanning more than 40 years, Diana Ross has proven herself the consummate music artist as well as the most successful female singer of all time. In the 1960s as lead singer of The Supremes, she achieved the unprecedented feat of 14 consecutive number one records, rivaling The Beatles for the position of most successful recording act of that generation. To the delight of her fans, both young and old, Ross is returning to her roots and embarking on a national tour with The Supremes, Lynda Laurence and Scherrie Payne. The Return To Love tour gives Ross the chance to perform the songs that seduced and dazzled an entire generation since she left the group in 1970. April 26, 8 p.m. Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, part of the HSBC FEI ClassicsTM, is one of only six Four Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere. Many of the world’s best riders will be competing with the hopes of qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics. This is a rare opportunity to watch riders compete in Olympic level competition before the London Olympic Games begin. April 26–29 Celebrate the Kentucky Derby's history at Carmichael's Carmichael's is hosting author James C. Nicholson for a reading and signing of his new book "The Kentucky Derby: How the Run for the Roses Became America's Premier Sporting Event." Nicholson provides an intriguing and thorough history of the Kentucky Derby, examining the tradition, spectacle, culture and evolution of the brightest jewel of the Triple Crown. April 26, 7 p.m.
Apassionata: The Beginning at the Kentucky Expo Center Apassionata has been Europe's most popular live arena show for nearly a decade, thrilling more than 5 million fans across 15 countries with a breathtaking display of the beauty and the bond between horse and rider. Apassionata features original music scored specifically to work with trained horses while displaying the finest equestrianship, stunt-riding and dressage. April 27–29 Bacon Ball 2012 at the Water Tower With such an unexpected turnout last year, the Bacon Ball is making changes to make sure everyone enjoys the evening. There will be more restaurants involved in the Bacon King Competition, a 3,500 sq. ft. tent for all the bacon tasting your heart desires, music and dancing on the back patio, fun art activities for all who are interested, as well as the piggybank and gift basket silent auction. April 27, 6–10 p.m. Derby Festival Great Balloon Glow This annual event provides an up-close and personal look at the participants in the Great Balloon Fest. Attendees can view the balloons, meet the pilots and join in the festivities of this beloved tradition. April 27, gates open at 6 p.m., balloon glow begins at 9 p.m. (rain date, April 28)
Cherokee Triangle Art Fair The Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is a juried fair with more than 220 artists’ booths. The outdoor event is in Louisville’s historic Cherokee Triangle neighborhood on tree-lined Cherokee Parkway between Willow Avenue and Cherokee Road adjacent to the Gen. John Breckinridge Castleman statue. Activities begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Children’s Parade, which lines up on Cherokee Road at Longest Avenue. April 28–29 Churchill Downs Opening Night Churchill Downs is rolling out the red carpet on Opening Night to celebrate the kickoff of its spring meet. Opening Night will feature The Cliff's Edge Derby Trial Stakes, Kentucky Derby and Oaks contender connections and entertainment including the famed Ken Arlen Orchestra starting at 4 p.m. World-renowned DJ Clinton Sparks taking the stage at 9 p.m. April 28, 4 p.m. Béla Fleck and the Flecktones at the Brown Theatre Back together for the first time in 20 years, the original Béla Fleck & The Flecktones return to where it all began with all-new music from their number one CD "Rocket Science." Joined by Howard Levy, Victor Wooten and Futureman, Béla will explore every corner of the musical landscape for an evening of discovery, revelation and just unabashed good times. April 28, 8 p.m.

April 28–29 Little Sisters of the Poor's 20th Annual Turtle Derby and Chicken Dinner Come enjoy a fun-filled family event featuring a silent auction, raffles, little treasurers, grandma's attic, bake sale, cake wheel, pull tabs, live music, and of course, The Slowest Two Minutes in Sports. Race announcers are Tom Ulmer of WXMA 102.3 The Max (12-2 p.m.), Reed Yadon of WHAS 11 TV and cable channel 19 (2-4 p.m.) and Steve Hale of Sell with Hale Realty & Auction (4-6 p.m.). April 29, 12–6 p.m. Slaughterhouse at Headliners Four-man rap group Slaughterhouse was recently signed to Shady Records, Eminem's record label, as Shady's newest addition to his camp of lyricists. All four individuals are well known for their creativity and lyricism, and as a group, they are, well... a Slaughterhouse. 18 and over event.
