    Jason Howard at Carmichael's Bookstore

    Carmichael's welcomes author Jason Howard for a signing of his new book "A Few Honest Words : The Kentucky Roots of Popular Music," which explores how Kentucky’s landscape, culture, and traditions have influenced notable contemporary musicians. Featuring intimate interviews with household names (Naomi Judd, Joan Osborne, and Dwight Yoakam), emerging artists, and local musicians, Jason Howard’s rich and detailed profiles reveal the importance of the state and the Appalachian region to the creation and performance of music in America.

    TruckTober Fest at Iroquois Park

    TruckTober Fest features a variety of food trucks, a Friday night Costume Contest and Friday night safe trick or treating for kids at the food trucks. Saturday festivities include a Battle of the Bands by hellawicked Productions in addition to the food trucks. A percentage of food sales will be donated to the Metro Parks Foundation.

    Fall Meet Opening Day at Churchill Downs

    Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Waterfront Park

    The American Cancer Society presents its 15th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk. This even unites the community to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about the importance of early detection and prevention, and raise money for research and support programs.

    Boonanza at Louisville Science Center

    Back by popular demand, it's the Halloween celebration full of science tricks and treats! In addition to learning all about glow-in-the-dark geysers and ultraviolet minerals, explore how a zombie virus would affect our bodies and examine "zombie" organs up-close. Curious George, along with KET, will be onsite and available for pictures throughout the day.
